Tamara Wenora Williams, née Boyd, of Toano, VA, departed this life on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 8:04 a.m. at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center of Williamsburg, VA. Tangy, as she was affectionately called, was surrounded by family as she peacefully transitioned. She was born on October 11, 1970, in Brooklyn, NY. She was raised by her biological parents and adoptive parents, the late Carolyn Louise Carroll, the late Gordon "Ian" Stanford Jr., stepfather, Dennis D.Boykin, the late Vernon T. Carroll, and honorably maternal grandmother, Bessie L. Boyd, and godmother/aunt, Grace Hunter-Turner, uncles William Boyd of Delaware, and Herbert Boyd of Newport News, VA
Tamara is preceded in death by Carolyn Louise Carroll of Newport News, Va, Gordon "Ian" Stanford Jr., stepfather, Dennis D. Boykin of Brooklyn, NY and Vernon T. Carroll of Norlina, NC, maternal grandparents, and Herman William Boyd of Brooklyn, NY, paternal grandparents, Sybil "Pearl" Gross, of Brooklyn, NY and Gordon Stanford Sr. of Ireland/Barbados, stepgrandmother, Vernell Boykin of Linden, NJ.
She is survived by her loving husband of thirty years, Lenroy "Kuda" Williams of Toano, VA; children, Avery Tyler Boyd (Isabella) of Richmond, VA, Sherridan Patrice Boyd of Toano, VA, and Shelby Monique Boyd; maternal siblings, Ti any Monique Seward (Tony) of Manson, NC, Torey William Boykin (Elisa) of San Antonio, TX, and Turhan Kendall Carroll (Nicole) of Nashville, Tennessee; godsister, Keisha Graham of Brooklyn, NY; godbrother, Rev. Eric Antwan Hargrove of Henderson, NC; paternal siblings, Keisha Stanford and her children of Atlanta, GA; Brandon Stanford, wife, and children of Concord, NC, and Simone Nicholson and family of NC; children she partially raised in love, niece, Shamiya D'Andria Rodgers and great-niece, Sophia Adrianna Fairley, all of Atlanta, GA, and Diamond-renee' Kyshon Fisher of Jacksonville, FL; nephew, Lennon Carroll of Nashville, TN; great-cousin and godson, Jayden Turner of Yorktown, VA; goddaughter, Alia Borden of Brooklyn, NY; the Evans family, Ferbee family, Boyd family, Hunter-Turner family, Boykin family, Stanford family, Carroll family, and a host of other caring family and friends.
Tangy may be viewed and the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023, in Whiting's Funeral Home. Livestream will begin at 3:30 p.m. Facial coverings are required.
