Tammara Dawn Mitchell, 66, of Oakland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her home on February 21, 2026, surrounded by her beloved dogs, Memphis and Dior, and her five cats.

Born on March 24, 1959, Tammara lived a life defined by curiosity, creativity, and an unwavering love of learning. A lifelong educator, she spent her career teaching English and Composition, inspiring and guiding thousands of high school students. Teaching was more than a profession for Tammara—it was a calling. She believed deeply in the power of words, ideas, and education, and she left a lasting impression on the many students whose lives she touched.

Tammara was known for her outgoing nature and larger-than-life personality. She brought energy and enthusiasm into every room she entered. A lover of the arts, she was always ready to be part of a theatrical production, whether on stage or supporting the creative process. Music was another constant in her life; she was a talented musician who played multiple instruments and could often be found singing with passion and joy.

She was also an avid sports fan, especially when it came to football and basketball. A devoted Florida State fan to her core, she cheered passionately for her teams and never missed an opportunity to celebrate a win.

Tammara is survived by her son, Mark C. Marley Jr.; her daughter, Katie Evans; her grandchildren, Mark C. Marley III, Alexis Wheeler, Joshua Teutsch, and Hannah Teutsch; and her great-grandsons, Samuel and River. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, former students, and colleagues who will remember her warmth, humor, and vibrant spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Ann Mitchell, and her brothers, Mark and Tim.

A private service will be held at the Mitchell family cemetery in Southeast Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tammara’s memory to https://www.savethemusic.org, https://www.fayettefcar.com, or https://www.dementiasociety.org.

Tammara’s voice, laughter, and love of learning will live on in the many lives she touched.

Lovingly written by the family to honor a life well lived.
