Tammie Mattey Obituary

Mattey, Tammie L.
TROY - Tammie L. Mattey, 53, of Troy, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on March 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Tammie was a beautiful soul whose kindness touched too many lives to count. Even through her battle she worked to spread positivity throughout the community, amongst neighbors and especially to those fighting their own battles next to her in treatment.
Tammie was the heart and soul of her family. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children, considered the captain of their team. Her devotion and pride for her children was abundantly obvious to anyone, anywhere as she was always quick to share her daughter's work as a teacher and her son's work as a commercial HVAC technician.
Tammie's Corned Beef Dip was legendary amongst family and friends and has always been requested for family gatherings. Known as the "baby whisperer" and "activities coordinator" Tammie could get any family baby to sleep and could create games and activities out of the simplest of materials within minutes. She ensured every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, happy and welcomed.
Tammie was very active in the Lansingburgh School District, the PTA, Little Miss Softball and Pop Warner Chearleading.
Survived by her devoted husband of 33 years George Mattey; daughter, Samantha Mattey; son, Alexander Mattey; and honorary son, James Maloney; parents, Joyce and John Rose; siblings, Liz Wager, Deborah Wager, Christiane Giovannetti (John), Frank Wager (Lisa), Melanie Wager (James); best friends and sisters, Christine Beaudoin and Tracy Oligney (Thomas) and the entire Maloney Family. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Tammie was predeceased by grandmother, Gertrude Wager; honorary parents, Robert and Francis Maloney; her brother, Patrick Rose (Holly); and niece, Karissa Watkins.
Friends are invited and may call on Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 870 Second Ave., (124th and 125th St.), in Lansingburgh.
If desired, contributions in Tammie's name may be made to, Things of My Very Own, 249 Green St., Schenectady, N.Y. 12305.
