Tammy Jo Farlow, 60, of Wabash, Indiana, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 6:00 am. She was born on November 12, 1964, in Salem, Indiana, to Larry and Joy (Tippin) Cadle. She grew up on their family farm near Paoli, Indiana along with her brother Danny.
Tammy met her husband Dr. Bradley Farlow when his aunt, Ruth Farlow Uyesugi, matched the two in 1983. They were married June 27, 1987 by Terry Kemp at Syria Christian Church, Orleans, Indiana and enjoyed 38 years together with their family which includes daughters Mary Elizabeth (Cory) Metzger, Goshen, Indiana and Anna Marie (Wyatt) Wright, Indianapolis, Indiana, and son Paul Farlow, Indianapolis. Tammy's husband, children along with their grandsons, Henry Metzger, Oliver Metzger, and George Wright were the joy of her life.
Tammy and her family enjoyed many summers of traveling together throughout the United States and to other countries, as well. They also treasured playing games around the kitchen table, putting together puzzles, and creating competitions to make basketball and football championship brackets more exciting. She welcomed many friends into the family home, and many times had written an agenda for topics they wanted to discuss when they gathered.
Tammy graduated from Paoli High School in the class of 1983. She received her bachelor's degree from Hanover College and her master's from Olivet Nazarene University. She was a teacher at Bennett High School, Marion, and Mississinewa High School, Gas City, Indiana before pausing her career a few years to be with her growing family. When she returned to teaching, she taught at MSD Wabash County (Southwood and Northfield Jr. Sr. High Schools) where she was a languages, math, and STEM teacher. She was MSD teacher of the year in 2008 and was a leader of many trips to Europe with her students.
As a member of Converse Church of Christ, Tammy was a chairperson of Women's Ministries, VBS, and children's area ministries. She loved catering meals for the church's Senior Saints program luncheons every month until she returned to her teaching career.
She also served as a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed judging several projects and contest around the state in 4-H, District FFA, and BPA. She was president of the Wabash Unit of Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Round Table of Wabash. As a member of Tri Kappa, she devoted 37 years to her local chapter, its offices and charitable projects as well as holding state appointed offices for 14 years, her favorite being the state scholarship committee on which she served multiple times. She also cherished times with her book club, Wabash River Readers. In addition to being a 4-H member in Orange County, home of her youth, she continued her support of 4-H serving in Wabash County on parent and other committees.
Along with traveling, Tammy and her family shared their home, hosting representatives of exchange student and teacher programs, a return of thanks for the time Tammy had spent as a student, living with a family in Montilla, Spain.
Family surviving along with her parents, husband, and children are her brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Katherine Cadle, Orleans, IN; sister-in-law, Lesa Farlow, Ponca City, Oklahoma; nephew Jordan (Elizabeth) Cadle, Campbellsburg, Indiana; and nieces Rachel Cadle of Indianapolis and Greta Farlow (Matt) Kubik of Newkirk, Oklahoma. She was predeceased by her grandparents Herman and Helen (Qualkinbush) Cadle, Harry and Christine (Wesner) Tippin, and father and mother-in-law, Russel "Ed" and Reba (Hawkins) Farlow as well as brother-in-law, Greg Farlow.
While Tammy experienced a cancer diagnosis for a few years, this did not take away her joy in living and giving God the glory for extending her life and providing for her and her family. She continued her testimony of God's protection to her earthly end, sharing her faith in Jesus and eternal life. She read, lived, and believed Psalm 91 to be a reflection of God's provision even in death.
