Tammy Kristine Kaltved was born on October 31, 1972, in Missouri Valley, Iowa to David and Kristine (Hatterman) Tremel. She grew up in Woodbine, Iowa, graduating in 1991. Tammy went on to further her education at Dana College, in Blair, Nebraska where she earned her bachelor’s degree in social work. On August 29, 1998, she was united in marriage to Chad Kaltved at the St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Zachary and Avery. Tammy cherished her role as the mom and was an amazing supporter and advocate for her children. Along with raising the kids, she helped with Chad’s chiropractic business.

Tammy’s strength and selflessness shaped the lives of those around her. Known as the "family glue," she had an ability to bring people together, serving not only as an empathetic listener but also as a trusted counselor within her family. Tammy's passion for life was visible in all that she did. Her garden, a testament to her love of nature, flourished under her tender care, showcasing an array of beautiful flowers. She found great joy in being outside, embracing the beauty of the world around her. Her hobbies included decorating for holidays, crafts, cooking and baking, and she poured her heart into everything she did. Among her proudest accomplishments were her family and her beloved dog, Nala. Tammy's love for her family knew no bounds, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to nurturing those relationships.

Tammy died on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. She was 52.

Tammy was preceded in death by her mother, Kris Tremel and sister-in-law, Connie Kiffmeyer. She is survived by her husband, Chad of Harlan, Iowa; children, Zachary and Avery of Harlan; father, Dave Tremel of Woodbine; siblings, Kim and her husband Chuck McKinley of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Eric Tremel and his wife Ashley of Woodbine; parents-in-law, Ron and Marjean Kaltved of Estherville, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Corrine and her husband Bruce Stille of Northfield, Minnesota and Candi and her husband Steve Staerk of Kellogg, Iowa; and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
