Tammy Marcusse Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Skinner Funeral Home - Lansing on May 1, 2024.
Tammy Elizabeth Marcusse, aged 59, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, in Lansing, MI. Born on April 7, 1965, in St. Johns, MI, she was the cherished daughter of Howard and Cheryl (Stephens) Dexter. Tammy's journey began in Lansing, but she later moved to Lake City where she completed her final two years of schooling, graduating with the class of 1983. Returning to Lansing, she devoted herself to raising her children, maintaining her home, and caring for the neighborhood children. She later pursued further education, earning an associate degree from Davenport University. Tammy dedicated many years of service to MESSA until her health no longer permitted, making her retirement in 2012.
In her leisure time, Tammy found solace in tending to her yard, engaging in card and dice games, and enjoying weekend getaways to Lake City. However, her true happiness stemmed from her family, particularly her cherished moments with her grandchildren.
Tammy is survived by her father, Howard Dexter; daughters, Jodi (Kasey) Streeter and Joni Marcusse; grandchildren, Lily Ramirez, Lucas Ramirez, Thorin Streeter, and Kellen Streeter; brother, Dean Smith; sisters, Tracy (Greg) Brown, Tricia (Eric) Wieferich, Teresa (John) Reid, and Tonya Dexter-Rader; boyfriend, Todd Hamel; close friends, Sylvia Wieland and Ashley Martinez, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and baby brother, Todd Dexter.
A memorial service to honor Tammy's life will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Skinner Funeral Home, Lansing chapel. Friends are welcome to pay their respects starting at 10:00 AM. For those inclined to make contributions in Tammy's memory, the family suggests donations to the Capital Area Down Syndrome Association.
