Tammy L. Olson, age 59, of Ankeny, Iowa and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa died September 30, 2022 in Des Moines, Iowa after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, Iowa. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, October 7, 2022 from 4-6:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. A memorial fund has been established in Tammy's name. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements.
Tammy L. Olson was born March 18, 1963 in Storm Lake, Iowa the daughter of Loren and Bettiann (Eickhoff) Zoet. As an infant, Tammy was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Storm Lake where she was later confirmed in 1976.
Growing up, Tammy attended school in Storm Lake where she graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1981. Following high school graduation, Tammy worked several years in Storm Lake before she attended Iowa State University where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Education in 1998.
Tammy enjoyed gardening and volunteering. She was dedicated to participating in cancer and Alzheimer's walks. In her spare time, she enjoyed working with special needs individuals and she had a passion for assisting the elderly.
Those left to cherish her memory include her life partner, Kimberly Puetz of Ankeny, Iowa; brothers: Adam (Charmaine) Olson of Waipahu, Hawaii; Eric (Melissa) Olson of Fredrick, Colorado; Paul (Sofia) Olson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; James (Rebecca) Zoet of Adel, Iowa; sister, Rebecca Hamilton of Morton, Pennsylvania; extended family members: Joe and Karla Puetz of Early, Iowa; Amy and Joe Firman of Pittsburg, Kansas; Marc and Boni Puetz of Holstein, Iowa; Neil and Kari Puetz of Hinton, Iowa; Laura Beth Puetz of St. Joseph, Missouri; numerous nephews and nieces and grand nephews and nieces; and several friends.
Tammy was preceded in death by her grandparents: Edgar and Betty Eickhoff; Burt and Pearl Zoet; parents, Loren and Bettiann (Becky) Zoet; sister, Jodey Marusich; brother-in-law, Mark Marusich; brother-in-law, George L. Hamilton; great grandmother, Adrianna Dekker; and great grandmother, Carrie Hansen.
