Obituary of Tanae Evans Apenteng
Tanae Evans Apenteng, 47, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away unexpectedly on April 27, 2023.
Born in Poughkeepsie, New York on March 10, 1976, she was the daughter of the late
Benjamin Evans and Michelle Mizell.
Tanae was a daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many.
She was a Registered Nurse who received her degree through Brilliant Academy in Florida.
Over the years, Tanae worked for West Point, Dutchess County Jail, The VA at Montross, and
Berkshire Farms.
All her life, Tanae was a local Poughkeepsie resident. She loved to cook, travel, loved working in
healthcare, and was a fashion connoisseur. She was also active with her children's schools,
sports teams, and clubs. She was especially known for the lavish breakfast she cooked for them
after sleepovers.
She was the wife of Dr. Yaw Apenteng and they were married in Fishkill, New York on May 20th,
2005.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Yaw Apenteng of Lagrange, New York, and daughter Hannah
Apenteng of Lagrange, New York, son Matthew Apenteng of Lagrange, New York, mother
Michelle Mizell of Poughkeepsie, New York, brother Terry Cherry of Poughkeepsie, New York,
sister Tavonna Cherry-Sharp and brother-in-law Raymond Sharp of Poughkeepsie, New York,
brother Taron Mizell of Poughkeepsie, New York, brother Geoffrey Ricketts of Poughkeepsie,
New York, sister Cassia Evans of Newburgh, New York, grandmother Dr. Sylvia Watkins of
Poughkeepsie, New York, her beloved Yorkie Milo, and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces
and nephews.
Tanae was predeceased by her father Benjamin Evans, sister Talette Evans, sister Shanita
Green, and grandmother Gertrude Bronson.
Friends may call on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Timothy P. Doyle
Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Poughkeepsie, Rural Cemetery in
Poughkeepsie, New York.
