Tanya Emery-Denman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Skinner Funeral Home - Turtle Lake on Dec. 10, 2025.
Tanya LaRae Emery-Denman, age 55, of Clayton, WI died on December 7, 2025 at The University of Minnesota Hospital. She was born on July 8, 1970 in Austin, MN to Gerald and Evelyn (Karge) Emery.
Tanya was a firecracker. She had a laugh so contagious everyone around her joined in. She was quick-witted, sassy and full of spark. She was also kind and courageous and so so authentically truthful.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren-whether that be in person or virtually via video chats and building a life with her partner, Jens, whom she spent the last 12 years. She loved a good debate of any subject, she loved to crochet and pretty much everything surrounding crocheting: the yarn, the colors and textures. She enjoyed teaching those around her new techniques and patterns.
Those close to Tanya knew she loved fiercely and wholly and without fear or judgement. She was the epitome of inclusivity; she was a friend to anyone and everyone.
She fought a long battle with MS, but ultimately her heart wasn't strong enough to sustain her post-bypass surgery.
Tanya will be greatly missed by her husband, Jens Nicolaisen; children, Alexander (Ashley) Denman, Baillee (Eric) Finley, Laine Emery, Rhea (Kaitlin) Emery, Gretchen Emery, and Savannah J. Nicolaisen; grandchildren, Alyssa, Gracelyn, Alexis, Audrey, Georgia, Juniper, Vivienne, Olliwyn, and Cooper; and siblings, Billy, Glenda, Tate, and Richard and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her favorite brother, Edward; and her mother, Evelyn.
Fly high and be free, our precious Mother, Betrothed and Friend.
We will forever love and miss you.
A Celebration of Life gathering is being planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to family. This can be done through the tribute fund link below.
