Tanya Michelle Pangelinan, 52, of Kingsport, passed away surrounded by her family, Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Born in Beaufort, SC to Master Gunnery Sgt. George and Marsha Pangelinan. She spent her early childhood traveling across the world and country while her father was serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. She later settled down in Kingsport, graduating from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1991, where she played basketball, volleyball and was a Devilish Deb. She went on to marry Marty Britt, they had a daughter, Stephanie, who they raised until the age of 4, while stationed in Yakota Air Base in Japan. Upon arriving back in Tennessee, she joined Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department where she served as a Lieutenant for many years. She also worked as a 9-1-1 emergency dispatcher for Sullivan County, before later serving the local community as an LPN at area hospitals. In 2011, she began her long, hard battle with polycystic kidney disease, enduring countless surgeries, numerous hospital stays, fighting with everything she had to spend as much time with her children and grandchildren.
Tanya was welcomed into her eternal home by her infant son; father, George Pangelinan; maternal grandfather, Plez Richards; paternal grandmother, Nieves Pangelinan.
She is survived by her grandmother, Bobbie Richards; mother, Marsha Pangelinan; aunt and uncle, Patricia Dellinger and Doug Dellinger; long time love, Marty Britt; children, Stephanie Freeman and bonus son, Michael Britt; grandchildren, Grace Freeman, Mason Bryant and Marley Bryant; her best friend, Paula Parker, who was with her until the very end; siblings, Richard Keoki Pangelinan (Amy) and Pililani Mei Clemmer (Benji); nieces, Sydney Clemmer and Charlie Clemmer; nephews, Ryan Pangelinan and Bellamy Pangelinan; special thanks to RN, Hope Seay and case worker, Emma Harrel; and many numerous friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 3:00-5:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating.
