Celebrating the wonderful life of
Tanya Cozette (Green) Tranthem
June 4th, 1954 - January 9th, 2022
In the early morning hours of Sunday, January 9th, 2022, Tanya passed away peacefully surrounded by the comfort of her loved ones and went into the merciful arms of Jesus. Tanya was a beautiful soul, a wonderful caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Tanya was born on June 4th, 1954 in Colorado Springs, CO to Gerald M. DeVeau and Geraldine W. (Charles) DeVeau. Tanya was the eldest of 3 sisters. She attended High School in Colorado Springs. She welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Alicia, and later met and married John E. Tranthem on February 14, 1973, they soon added 2 baby boys, John and Eric, to the family. Tanya worked for many years as a beautician and later worked in food services at the Air Force Academy. They raised their family in Colorado Springs, Co and she later retired from Civil Services. After retiring, Tanya and John moved to Texas to be with their eldest son and eventually settled down in Oklahoma living out her golden years with her youngest son.
Tanya was a woman of God. She loved going to church. It's no surprise she chose a Sunday to go be with the Lord. Tanya absolutely loved and adored her dog, Sophie. Tanya had so much love for her family. She would talk to anyone and everyone about them. She was so proud of her kids and grandkids, her face beamed with joy every time she would speak about any of them. Tanya was a very blessed lady when it came to family, she was surrounded with love and she knew it. Tanya loved to talk on the phone, one of her favorite things to do at the end of her days was call her sister and catch up. If there's one thing anyone can tell you about Tanya, it's that she was a fighter! She was one strong, determined lady that wasn't going to let any illness get in the way of her smiling and showing up as if she didn't have a care in the world. Her smile and laughter was contagious, she walked in a room and smiled and sure enough, everyone else was soon smiling and the laughter began. She was such a sweet and outgoing lady, that it never took her long to make a new friend. She lived in a retirement community and made friends with almost every person there. She spent her spare time playing cards, swimming, walking her dog and at the Senior Citizens center doing miscellaneous activities with all the friends she made over the years. She found happiness in the littlest things. She battled a lot of illness in her short life but she never let that stop her from being so grateful for every moment and loving her life to the fullest. She was an amazing woman who will be deeply missed by everyone she knew.
Tanya was preceded in death by her Father, Gerald M. DeVeau and her mother, Geraldine W. DeVeau
