Tapa'au Salima

Tapa'au Salima, 75, of Independence, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at her residence.

She was born on Monday, May 27, 1946 in Mapusaga Fou, American Samoa, the daughter of the late Seiuli and the late Faaea (née Naea) Salima. She married Steven Brown, Fall/Winter of 2006, in Independence, Missouri.

• Sasha Key, granddaughter, of Provo, UT
• Shawnnae Key, granddaughter, of American Fork, UT
• Shaynna Key (Eddie David), granddaughter, of Independence, MO
• Jordan Salima, grandson, of Independence, MO
• 17 great-grandchildren
• Tafito Malio, sister, of Garden Grove, CA
• Lesa Palelei (Tj Palalei), sister, of Independence, MO
• Roger Salima (Faye), brother, of Compton, CA

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by:
• Faaea Salima, daughter

Family Service will be held on Friday, Dec 10 from 8:00 to 9:45 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 705 W Walnut St, Independence. The Bishops service will follow at 10:00 AM. Tapa'au's Burial will take place on Friday, Dec 10 at 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery 701 S Noland Rd, Independence.

The most important thing to her was her faith and testimony in her Savior, Jesus Christ. It brought her so much joy in serving in her church calling as the ward organist. She loved everything music and enjoyed singing in her church choirs. She raised her family to do the same. Besides her faith, her family came first. She took pride in her late daughter, grandchildren, and each of their individual families.

-We love you Grandma. Your memory will always live on within us. While we are heartbroken over your physical death, we find comfort in knowing you are no longer in pain and finally reunited with mom. Thank you for all you've ever done for and been to us. 'Til we meet again.

We want to give a special thanks to Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Liberty & Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney for taking care of our grandmother & their help in planning her final farewell. We would also like to thank Bishop Moananu and her home ward of Independence 3rd ward relief society for their acts of service. Last but not least, thank you to all of our family and friends that have sent condolences & donations to make these next few days a little easier, emotionally and financially. May God bless you all.
