Tara Lynn Gettings Hughes, age 47, of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, passed away Friday in Paintsville, Kentucky.

Tara was born on December 15, 1978, in Woodbury, NJ, to Kathleen Walker and the late Joseph Gettings. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her stepfather, James Walker, and one grandson, Jameson Bartley.

Tara is survived by her husband Carl "John" Hughes, one son: Russell Cogill IV of Gloucester, NJ; two daughters: Alycia Ford of Prestonsburg, KY, Dezaray Bartley of Pikeville, KY; two brothers: Joseph Gettings Jr. of National Park, NJ, Walker West of Deptford, NJ; two sisters: Nicholene Dolente of NJ, Kristal Rodas of NJ; seven grandchildren: Haiden Hughes, Silas Ford, Emersyn Ford, Malani Ford, Willow Bartley, Remington Bartley, and Baby Bartley.

At the request of the family, a memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.

Jones Preston Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
