Tate W. Paige Sr., 88, cherished husband of Cynthia Paige nee Mathews went to his eternal home after passing away peacefully in his home in Lombard November 13.

Formerly of Downers Grove and Broadview, IL and raised in Maryville, TN by the late William O. And Viola Rider Paige. Loving dad of Tate (Jody) Paige Jr. and the late Rhonda Paige. He adored his triplet grandsons Brett, Jackson and Peyton, always asking 'How are my buddies?' whenever he saw them.

Cherished brother of Thelma (Bert) Buchanan, Juanita (Roy) McMillan and preceded in death by Ramelle (Ed) Trundle, Mary (Pete) Forester, Edgar (Roma), Delta Mae (R.L) Merritt.

Beloved brother-in-law of Kaye (Steve) Wright and the late Peggy (John) Griffits.

Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Tate and the love of his life Cynthia eloped when they were teenagers and enjoyed 68 years of marriage. They moved to Illinois where some of his siblings lived and there was a job available at Reynolds Manufacturing. There he proudly served in the Air Force National Guard.

He became a firefighter in 1961, spending his entire career with the Broadview Fire Department where he was known for his cooking.

In the 1970s he started his own business, Walton Janitorial which he ran until retiring in 2007.

He was a member of Christ Church in Oak Brook and spent many years getting up early to cook for the Men's Breakfast and growing closer to the Lord.

Tate and Cynthia enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with friends.

He had a quick sense of humor and dabbled in many hobbies from stocks to horse racing and woodworking. In his later years he enjoyed simple pleasures like a cup of coffee on his patio.

Services will be private. Memorial gifts to Bags for Brett at BagsforBrett.org
