Tatiana "Tia" Morrell, 28, born on June 5, 1996, in Portland, Maine, left us unexpectedly on July 12, 2024, leaving behind a profound legacy. Raised in Windham, Tatiana attended Windham High School, where the eagle served as the school mascot-a fitting symbol for Tia, who self-proclaimed the eagle as her spirit animal. Eagles are known for their leadership and high achievements, qualities that Tia embodied throughout her life.
Growing up, Tatiana was a spirited soul. Her entrepreneurial spirit first emerged at a young age with her lemonade stand on Nana and Grampa's driveway on Windham Center Rd. Her early passion for reading, which began at the age of four, perhaps laid the foundation for her later ability to craft real estate articles for the Windham Eagle.
After high school, her journey took her to New York City to pursue Fashion Merchandising at LIM College, where she cultivated lasting friendships. However, her heart always drew her back to Maine, and she returned in 2015 to be close to her beloved family, whom she cherished with all her being.
Tatiana was a dynamic individual with an unwavering work ethic, pouring passion into every pursuit. Her career began at a young age at Migis Lodge, where she cherished caring for children. Later, she delighted many as a beloved character at "Rent a Princess," bringing joy to countless children as Moana, Ariel, Jasmine, and more. Her career path mirrored her vibrant personality - from managing a shoe store at Aldo to working as a waitress and bartender at various local spots. Amidst these roles, she launched her own business, Tia's Treat & Eats, which became a sensation during COVID. She created exquisite chocolate-covered berries that customers could personalize, delivering joy with each order. Throughout it all, she exuded a magnetic energy, where children were just drawn and enamored by her.
Her recent accomplishments as a successful real estate agent at Landing Real Estate showcased her genuine care for clients and her commitment to helping them discover their dream homes. Yet, beyond her professional achievements, Tatiana's greatest joy and fulfillment came from being a devoted mother to her daughter Zara and her partner Walter's son, Demetrius. She created a nurturing home overflowing with laughter, silliness and love, leaving an indelible mark on their lives and the lives of all who knew her.
She was a goal-setter, someone who could pack more into one day than we could ever imagine. The day she died, she went to breakfast with a friend, took Demetrius to the batting cage to gear up for his championship game, spoke and texted several friends and family, put a house under contract, and was driving home from an hour-long health session - all before 3:00 PM, all while caring for her 4-month-old baby! A day in the life of Tatiana Morrell was intentional, helpful and busy. Tatiana was extraordinarily organized, spirited, vivacious, and the glue that held her family and friends together. When she entered a room, her large and bouncy energy filled the space; her laughter could be heard from across the room. To those who knew her, Tatiana was "the whole package" - funny, beautiful, loving, caring, sensitive, strong, thoughtful, and kind.
Tatiana leaves behind an extensive family network that includes siblings, step-siblings, half-siblings, nieces, nephews, and countless cherished relationships. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel deeply valued and significant in her presence.
Predeceased by her beloved grandfather, Richard "Dick" Morrell, who passed away 6 months before, they shared a profound connection that deeply influenced her life. She leaves behind her partner, Walter Phillips, his son Demetrius Brown-Phillips and their four-month-old daughter, Zara Joleen. Her memory will be forever cherished by her parents, Shelley Morrell Worthing, the bond between mother and daughter was evident and undeniable, her stepfather, Gary Worthing, who lovingly stepped into her life as a father figure. She also leaves behind her father, Denver Benjamin of St. Kitts, and her sweet Nana, Janice Morrell, who played an integral role in raising Tia.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM (doors open at 3:00, 3:30 service, 4:30-6:30 reception) at 14 Ocean Gateway Pier, Portland. Please join us in honoring and remembering the remarkable life of Tatiana Morrell and please wear colorful clothing.
Tatiana's laughter, love, and legacy will continue to inspire us all to embrace boldness, say yes, take the trip, and live life to the fullest. May she rest in eternal peace.
