Taylor Stone Obituary

Taylor Carson Stone, September 6, 1985 – October 8, 2023. New Orleans, Louisiana. It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of Taylor Carson Stone, 38 years of age, who departed from this life on October 8, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 6, 1985, and was the son of Christy Stone Halloran. He was a beloved son, brother, nephew, and cousin as well as a dear friend to many. Taylor was the co-captain of the MorningStar, and some of his happiest moments were spent with family and friends on the lake and the beach in Seaside, Florida. Taylor was known to frequent establishments such as the Country Club, Miss Mae's, and the Rusty Nail, and he enjoyed the rich and vibrant dining, music, and culture that can be found only in New Orleans. Taylor loved playing tennis and softball with friends and was an avid University of Kentucky sports fan. He was always on the lookout for authentic Mexican cuisine and ordered a Maker's and water with dinner. Taylor was a proud alumnus of Tulane University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Philosophy and was a member of the Sigma chapter of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. After Tulane, Taylor went on to attend Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor. While at Loyola, Taylor was a member of the school's distinguished Moot Court program, where he helped the team place in competition and was recognized as one of the top oral advocates. During his time at Loyola, Taylor also served as a Student Ambassador and held leadership positions with the Federalist Society and Maritime Law Society. His was also a contributing author of an article published in the Loyola Maritime Law Journal, JASON ELAM ET AL., A NAVIGATION CHART THROUGH WRONGFUL DEATH IN ADMIRALTY, 11 LOY. MAR. L.J. 327 (2013). Taylor was a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and New Orleans Bar Association. He ran his own law practice, supporting his clients in matters of commercial litigation, real estate, and estate planning. Taylor was named a New Orleans top lawyer for commercial litigation in 2019 and for commercial transactions / LLS law in 2021. Taylor served his local community as a volunteer for Project H.E.L.P., an organization dedicated to providing pro bono legal assistance to the homeless, and the Posse Foundation, an organization that partners with colleges and universities to provide scholarships and training to individuals with extraordinary leadership potential. He also enhanced civics and law related education in Louisiana classrooms as a volunteer for Louisiana Center for Law & Civic Education. Taylor is survived by his mother, Christy Stone Halloran; sister, Mary Catherine Halloran of London, England; uncle and aunt, J. Carson Stone, III, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Catherine Stone Austin of Palm Beach, Florida; his cousins, Tyler Brooks Austin and Soleil Frances Higgins of New Orleans, Louisiana, Kermit E. Austin, III of Miami, Florida, Dylan Scott Limanek, Laurel Mae Limanek, and Luna Rey Limanek of Tucson, Arizona; parent, Ryan Martin Halloran of Frankfort, Kentucky; close family member, Cameron of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; his devoted pet companion, Elmer; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing. Taylor is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Joseph Carson Stone, Jr. and Mary Catherine Gavin Stone of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. A celebration of Taylor will be held from 2:15pm to 5:00pm on Saturday October 21, 2023, beginning at Mickey Markey Park (the intersection of Dauphine and Markey Park) and continuing on to one of his favorite places, the Country Club in New Orleans, Louisiana. Taylor was a law student of mine at Loyola New Orleans College of Law. He was a fine young man. I loved that he was from Kentucky because that´s where my husband lives and where I moved to when I retired in 2023. Saying prayers for his family.
