Taylor Abril Torres

Taylor Abril Torres, who had a contagious smile; the need to drop everything and come to your aid; the need to ensure your safety before hers; the need to always maintain positive relationships with EVERYONE she met; the need to be private when giving assistance to others; and the need to live by her mission of helping others to be self-sustainable, with her motto, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." – Mahatma Gandhi, died unexpectedly in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 23, 2023, at the young age of 29.
Taylor was born on April 27, 1994, at De Paul Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, to military parents, Luis A. Torres, and Courtney R. Torres. Although Taylor was the youngest of four (4) siblings, she was the glue that bonded her family. Taylor's soul was pure and her love for mankind was beyond comprehension. You could borrow money and she would never ask for the loan to be repaid. By nature, Taylor was an introvert, she was private, and she would not take credit for bringing joy into a person's life. Taylor was an amazing mom to her pit-bull daughter Lily, who went to doggie daycare, had spa days, birthday parties and matching outfits to wear. Taylor was an amazing aunt to her only nephew Tristan and called him her son more than she called him her nephew. Taylor loved unconditionally and believed in the power of it. Taylor's favorite book to recommend was, "The Book of Happy – 250 ways to a happier you". She was a magnet of gravitation of good energy.
As a child, Taylor's talents peaked very early and her skills continued to progress as she grew in a beautiful spirit. Taylor, was an honor roll student from elementary through high school, was active in track and field, volleyball, basketball and JROTC. Some of Taylor's accolades include: The Principals List; High Academic Achievement Certificate; her contribution as a Community of Learners participant; a Milestones in African American History award for her writing series; and the HOPE (Helping Other People Excel) Scholarship Promise Award.
After high school, Taylor, followed in her parents' military footsteps and joined the United States Air Force where she served her time honorably. As a Veteran, Taylor continued to make strides in her life as she obtained her Associate in Science degree, followed by her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in management. Taylor was on the Dean's List at Oklahoma State University and was chosen as Oklahoma State University's candidate for the National Society of Leadership and Success. She was on track to continue her education at the University of Oklahoma Price College of Business Master of Business Administration program for the 2024 Spring Term.
Taylor was employed by Summit HPS A Halliburton Service, where she was selected for a pilot program (starting in June 2024) to learn every aspect of the oil industry. While at Summit HPS, Taylor's employee awards were, "The Best Attitude Award" and the "All Smiles" award. Additionally, she held an Officer's Role for the Summit Big Red Toastmasters (Area 02, Division T, District 16) Club Association.
Taylor was hard working and dedicated to God, Lily, family, job, friends and whatever or whomever, else she was focusing on in that moment. Taylor believed that if you were young and healthy, you should always have two (2) jobs (as she did). Taylor was phenomenal, she was loved, she was the HEART to us all and she will always and forever be in our hearts and missed until there are no more tears on earth.
She will be cremated (after viewing), and her ashes will be honorably laid in their final resting place at Fort Gibson National Military Cemetery.
Taylor is survived by her parents, Courtney and Luis, her brother Gregory, her sisters Mercedes and Ashleigh, her two most important loves in her life, her nephew Tristan, and her daughter/dog Lily, her God Father Adam Balogh, and a VERY long list of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended relatives and friends who LOVED her very much!
There will be visitation at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home on Saturday, January 6th, 2024 from 1pm-6pm.
