Taylor Allen Wagner passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the age of 32. Taylor was born on August 7, 1991 in McComb, MS, and grew up in Picayune, MS, where he graduated from Picayune Memorial High School in 2010. He went on to graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism in 2014, then continued to earn his Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education from Mississippi State University in 2020. He was a beloved teacher at Bay-Waveland Middle School where he taught 7th Grade English Language Arts, and was the recipient of the Bay-Waveland Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2022.
He grew up as a member of Boy Scout Troop 2 in Picayune, MS and received the highest honor of Eagle Scout.
Taylor was loved by many and made a lasting impression on his family, friends, and the youth in his community. He had a deep passion for teaching and loved each and every one of his students like his own. His kind and gentle spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.
Taylor was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Frank Wagner of Picayune, MS, his maternal grandparents, Otto and Bernice Logue of Vicksburg, MS, and paternal grandparents, Eugene and Gladys Wagner of McComb, MS.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Lanice Wagner of Long Beach, MS, sister, Casey Pierce Bertucci (Trey) of Long Beach, MS, brother, Scott Wagner (Katie) of Hattiesburg, MS; nieces and nephews, Mackenzie and Keller Pierce, Brooklyn and Chloe Bertucci, Jayce and Sophia Wagner, a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his beloved dog, Lilly, who will miss him dearly.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 from 3-5pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS. Funeral Services will begin at 5pm in the funeral home chapel.
Following the service, we would like to invite family, friends, and students to a lantern release at Long Beach Harbor (west of Steve’s Marina) at 6:30pm to celebrate Taylor’s life and honor his memory.
