On March 5th, 2025 the love of my life, Taylor Walton Massey II, passed from his earthly life into the arms of Jesus at the age of 83.

Taylor was born on October 1, 1941 to Gabe and Faye (Jones) Massey. He was married to Patricia Mercer Massey. We celebrated our marriage of 44 years together on Valentine's Day surrounded by Christian friends.

Taylor graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in Industrial Arts. He pursued a variety of careers over the course of his life. His first job was in a machinist shop at age 13. He was a firefighter during college. He taught school in Louisiana, where he also was a farmer and worked for John Deere. When he moved to Texas he hung wallpaper then joined the Transportation Security Administration - his most beloved job. He would come home with the funniest stories! He volunteered with the Mesquite police department and at church.

Taylor was proud to be a Marine. He served in Vietnam. The war came home with him.

Taylor's church, Shiloh Terrace, was a major part of his life, from teaching adult men's Sunday school to Wednesday night children's classes to church yard work and festivals.

Taylor loved fishing, gardening, woodworking, and all things mechanical. He loved to take me traveling.

During his last 2-1/2 months while in the VA hospice unit Taylor spent most of his time reading the Bible. He loved the Lord. The nurses all commented on this fact.

Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Gabe and Faye, by his baby brother Thurman, and by his sister-in-law Linda Bermingham.

Taylor will be missed by so many, including his loving wife Patty, brother and sister-in-law Herman and Kathleen Massey, sister-in-law Diana Massey, and many nieces and nephews. His nephew Anthony Massey has been a loving and caring help to us during this time. Taylor's dog Blue grieves with the family. Taylor is survived by his daughter Ginger Simon.

The family is grateful to Melanie Loucks for her devoted attention to Taylor, and to the dedicated team of his VA hospice nurses for their compassionate, loving care in Taylor's last eleven weeks of life.

In lieu of flowers Taylor requested donations be made to his church or to Wounded Warrior Project.
