Te Van Bui

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather: Te Van Bui. He was born on 01/18/1945 in Dong Hoa, Rach Gia as the 2nd son (6th child) of Thiet Van Bui and Phien Thi Vo. Wanting to give his son the best education, Thiet moved his family of 10 to the city so that Te can get a formal education. In 1965 he became a devoted follower of the Cao Dai religion, and throughout his life, supported the establishment of several temples in the USA. In 1968, Te married the love of his life, Khen Giang. During the Vietnam War, Te was in the South Vietnamese Navy where he fought for liberty and freedom. He was taken into "re-education" camp 3 times and escaped. After his last captivity, he was given an opportunity to navigate a refugee boat. Enduring a perilous journey, he and his family safely arrived in the Malaysian refugee camp. In 1979, he finally settled in Arlington, VA where he started his new life. He was extremely patriotic to his new country and never missed an opportunity to exercise his right to vote. During his working years, he supported his wife in building a Vietnamese restaurant business. During retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, singing karaoke and dancing with his friends. Towards the end of his life, he was cared for and surrounded by his proudest legacy: his family. He passed peacefully on 06/21/2025 in Arlington, VA. He was 80.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Khen Giang, son Liem Bui (Thanh Luong), daughter Kelly Bui, son Luan Bui (Susan Pham), daughter Lynn Bui, daughter Hoa-My Bui (Allen Le), grandchildren (Steven Bui (Christina), Kaitlyn Amber Ho, Trang Bui, Maddy Bui, Vy Bui, Brady Bui, Skylar Le, Arabella Le, and Isla Le), great grandchildren Camden Bui and Keegan Bui.
