Ted Theodore Baker, 70 years of age of Hurley, VA, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Saint Thomas Hospital West, Nashville, TN. Born February 27, 1953, in VA, he was the son of the late Roy and Polly Jean Ratliff Baker.
Ted was of the Pentecostal faith, loved working in his garage on vehicles, playing with his cats, and playing his guitar. He loved spending time with his family and was a loving companion, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Polly Jean Ratliff Baker, siblings Pat Baker Ratliff, Georgia Baker, Ermel Hardin, Pearl Baker, Marvin Baker, Lenzie Baker, Elsie Baker, Wayne Baker, Sanford Baker, Herbert Baker, Emzie Baker, and Lewis Baker.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his companion, Della Quinley of Vansant, VA; daughters Mary Ann Baker Presnell and James Fife of Pataskala, OH, Amanda Kay Wright and husband Jack of Vansant, VA, Shonna Renee Vanover and Husband Frank of Vansant, VA.
He is also survived by his special nephews Greg Baker and wife Sandra and Harold Jonathan Baker and wife Kimberly, special niece Loretta Tester, special great niece Makenzie Bledsole as well as, several other nieces; sister-in-law Shirley Baker, grandchildren James Fife, 3rd, Brayden Ratliff, Bryleigh Vanover, Alyssa Wright, Noah Wright, and great granddaughter Ahnaya Fife.
Funeral services for Ted Baker will be held at the Shortridge Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Grundy, VA, Tuesday, February 13th, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Jack Wright officiating with burial to follow in the Baker Family Cemetery, Race Fork Road, Hurley, VA.
Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will begin to receive friends at the funeral home Monday February 12th beginning at 6:00 p.m. with evening services to begin at 7:00 p.m.
