It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Ted Burson. He was born on December 22, 1956 in Lore City OH to his parents Willard and Martha Lane Burson. In late 2021, he was diagnosed with cancer. Ted put up a good, strong fight but succumbed to this terrible disease on December 12, 2022, at the age of 65, at his home surrounded by his family.
Ted was a 1975 graduate of Meadowbrook High School in Byesville OH. Following graduation, he started up Leatherwood Logging & Trucking. He then worked at Shelly Company for 16 years and eventually retired from Oxford Mining after working there for 18 years as an Equipment Operator/Foreman.
Ted was a loving father and grandfather. He danced to the beat of his own drum. He had a deep love for his family. Ted enjoyed watching eagles, collecting and shooting guns, fishing, going to flea markets, gardening, and raising cattle. He never met a stranger. He loved his dogs, Ellie and Tazzy, very much.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved dog, Coco.
Remembering all of the joy that he brought to so many, are those who survive: his daughters, Gretchen Flood (Ernie) of Columbus OH, Amber Burson Fisher (Nathan) of New Philadelphia OH, and Alana Burson Nau (Stephen) of Pleasant City OH; his grandchildren, Tucker & Makayla Latham, Cole & Katie Fisher, Hayle & Mason Lucas and Kolten Clark; his girlfriend, Rhonda Fisher and her daughter, Brittney DeVore, and her granddaughter, Aubreyanna Meckley; as well as his dear friend, Victor Sandor.
Visitation will be held on Friday (December 16, 2022) from 1 p.m. to 3 pm. and also from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville (129 Mill Street), where funeral services will be held on Saturday (December 17, 2022) at 12 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating.
A private family burial will immediately follow at Burson Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Black-Epperson Funeral Home in his name to help with final expenses.
We would especially like to thank the staff at Genesis Hospice and Jeff Eschbaugh for their constant and attentive treatment of our dad.
