Ted Leo Eveland, 65, of Eustis, Florida, passed away on December 13, 2024, after a brief illness. Ted was born on September 2, 1959, in Orlando, Florida, at what was then called Orange Memorial Hospital. In 1965 Ted’s parents, Vern and Barbara Eveland, left Orlando and moved their family out into the countryside East of Eustis. Ted, along with his 5 siblings grew up near Cassia, Florida. He enjoyed life on the farm playing on the swing in the back yard, participating in 4-H activities, hay making with his brothers, and playing with the numerous animals on the farm. Other than a traumatic run-in with an ornery turkey, Ted was a happy camper there. Ted was a proud graduate of the Eustis High School Class of 1977. He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management from Florida State University in 1983. Ted was a lifelong loyal and devoted fan of the FSU Seminoles. Ted worked for the Kissimmee YMCA and spent some time working in Kentucky before moving to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1991. There he worked as a Plans Reviewer for the State of Tennessee in Davidson County. He and his brother Scott, who also lived in Nashville, worked in the same office building for a time and enjoyed having lunch together on a regular basis. In 2014 Ted moved back to Cassia to live with his father. He and his dad played a few games of backgammon at the breakfast table every morning, and spent many hours watching football on TV together. When his dad passed in 2016 Ted moved to Mount Dora, Florida. Ted was an easy-going, funny, gentle man, who never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, the positive impact he made on those around him, and for his love of Mountain Dew. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire his family and friends.Ted was predeceased by his parents and his brother Scott. Ted is survived by his wife, Carolyn Eveland of Dawson Springs, Kentucky and children Tammy Stephens and Darrin Hart; his sister Kelley Eveland McManaman (Mark) of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers, Barry Eveland (Gail) of Madisonville, Kentucky; Tony Eveland (Dana) of Saint Petersburg, Florida; and Sam Eveland (Meg) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, as well as by many cherished nieces and nephews. A memorial online Guestbook is available at www.hardenpauli.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Harden/Pauli Funeral Home in Eustis, Florida. The date for Ted’s Celebration of Life gathering will be announced at a later date.
