Ted McDonald Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home - Bardstown on Apr. 16, 2024.
Ted McDonald, age 88 of Louisville passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and devotion to those closest to him.
Ted was born on November 29, 1935 in Louisville and spent his life dedicated to his beloved wife of 66 years, Rose Ann McDonald. Together, they embarked on countless journeys, exploring the wonders of the world from the majestic landscapes of Alaska to the charming countryside of England, Ireland, and Scotland. They cherished their adventures together, often venturing on bus tours across the United States. Yet, amidst their travels, their hearts found solace in the tranquil shores and breathtaking vistas of Siesta Key, Florida, a place they considered their sanctuary.
A true family man, Ted adored his children and grandchildren, finding immense joy in their company and cherishing every moment spent together. As a testament to his strong work ethic and selflessness, Ted worked for 40 years at General Electric to provide for his family until his retirement. His commitment to family extended beyond blood ties, as he was a founding member of St. Bernard Catholic Community, where he fostered a sense of belonging and community among its members.
Ted had a passion for sports, finding delight in watching the University of Louisville Cardinals play and cheering on his beloved Cubs Baseball team. He also found solace in the simple pleasures of life, enjoying fishing excursions and lively bowling matches with friends. One of Ted's greatest joys was working in his yard, cultivating gardens and growing vegetables for Rose Ann to can and preserve.
Ted will be warmly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: loving wife of 66 years, Rose Ann McDonald; sons, Mark McDonald (Tonya) and Thomas McDonald (Sharon); and daughters, Gemma Howard (Paul) and Martha Clute (Steve). Also, sharing in his legacy are 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Roosevelt McDonald, Sr. and Evelyn Grace (Berley) McDonald; and siblings, Dorothy Glass, Ruth Minch, Carla Boelke, and John "Jack" McDonald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 19 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Dr, Louisville, KY 40228. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-8 pm at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Rd.
Memorial Expressions may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, or The Piarist School, P.O. Box 369, Hager Hill, KY 41222.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at Glen Ridge Health Campus for their extraordinary care and professionalism.

Jim and I have fond memories of our neighbor Ted while we lived on St Bernard Ct. He was friendly and kind and always eager to share his vegetable bounties. We were lucky to have his two daughters as our babysitters for a number of years. Rest in peace Ted and hugs to Rose Ann and the family. Kathy Huber
