Theodore Joseph Nehrbass, age 85, passed away on March 14, 2024.

He was born in Lawrence, KS on June 7, 1938, the son of Ira Carlyle Nehrbass and Opal Ruth (Penn) Nehrbass.

Ted taught physics and mathematics in both Gooding, Idaho and Ozark, Missouri. He taught at Ozark Schools from 1969 until his retirement as department head in 1995, later also teaching mathematics at Ozark Technical Community College in Springfield, Missouri.

He enjoyed working outdoors and gardening at his rural Sparta, Missouri home. His dry sense of humor will be sorely missed and he would appreciate that he left us on 3.14 (pi day).

Ted always kept busy whether stocking woodpiles for the fireplace or baking his signature homemade bread for family gatherings.  He could often be found working mathematical puzzles for posing to friends and grandchildren alike.

On June 9, 1963, Ted married Shirley Evelyn A’Hearn.  He is survived by his wife Shirley, their three children and six grandchildren: Timothy Joseph Nehrbass (wife Angela and children Ben, Jenna and Caleb), Gregory Alan Nehrbass and Shari Gail (Nehrbass) Henry (late husband William Henry, Jr. and children Michael, Matthew and Marcus).  Ted also loved his A’Hearn and Utsinger families and many Nehrbass and Penn cousins very much.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Kevin Carson officiating.  Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024 immediately before the funeral in the funeral home.

Donations may be made to Sonrise Baptist Church at P.O. Box 903, Ozark, MO 65721.
