Dr. Ted Perkins
February 2, 1954 – May 10, 2025
Dr. Ted Hillman Perkins, of Vero Beach, Florida, peacefully passed away on May 10, 2025. He was born on February 2, 1954, in Macon, Georgia. The only son, and third of four children, of Sidney "Hillman" Perkins and Marjorie Bartlett Perkins. At age 2, his family moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida, where Ted was raised. He graduated from Ft. Pierce Central High School in 1972. Throughout life Ted enjoyed his time as a true Floridian, on the water surfing, boating, fishing and was also an avid golfer.
Ted received his B.A. in Political Science from Florida State University in 1977. After graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Susan Nathanson. Following in his father-in-law's footsteps, both he and his wife attended Life Chiropractic University in Atlanta, Georgia and earned their Doctor of Chiropractic degrees in December 1980.
Upon graduation from Life, Doctors Ted and Susan Perkins owned and operated Perkins Chiropractic in Ft. Pierce before moving to Vero Beach in 1992. Over the next 30 plus years they owned and operated Florida Spine Group, Spinal Decompression Center and Neuropathy & Laser Center. Throughout his years of practice, Ted continued to study and research, earning multiple additional post-graduate certifications, and was passionate about providing the highest quality of care to his patients. As a result, he was admired by his peers and ultimately created Florida Management Consultants, under which he and his wife trained and mentored physicians and staff of multiple medical disciplines. Fondly referred to by staff and patients as "Doctor Ted", he was known for his perfectionist tendencies and his witty sense of humor.
Ted was a proud father and adoring grandfather. He was happiest spending time with his children, Lindsey Landon and Chase Perkins; and as "Poppy" to his three grandsons, Jack Landon, Walker Landon and Hillman Perkins. He continued to enjoy time at the beach or on a boat in the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Hillman and Marjorie Perkins, his in-laws, Dr. Sid and Monica Nathanson, as well as his sister-in-law, Andrea Nathanson, and his brother-in-law, Clyde Suit. He is survived by Susan, his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, daughter Lindsey Landon (Chris), son Chase Perkins (Kendra), grandsons Jack, Walker and Hillman, sisters Leslie Fender, Ann Suit, Jill Ritten (Robert), sister-in-law Elysa Roskam (Robert), brother-in-law Alex Nathanson (Amy) as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved to tease.
A memorial service in his honor will be held at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, in Vero Beach, Florida, on May 15, 2025 at 10:00 am. Donations may be made in his name to his favorite charities, Shriners Hospital' Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Susan-June and I are so very sorry to hear about Ted. We were unable to attend the memorial service as I was having a procedure myself at Lawnwood. Even though I hadn´t seen him a few years, I always considered him a good friend.
We always had a great time when we were both part of the 2286 Golf Group.
I know your family is heartbroken that Ted is gone way too soon. May God Bless all of your family.
