Teddy Gene Reed, 79, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, passed away on June 13, 2025, from complications with progressive supranuclear palsy. He passed surrounded by his loving family.
Ted was born on September 24, 1945, the son of Patsy Ann (Walker) Reed and James A. Reed. He was the oldest of four children.
Ted graduated from Linwood High School in 1964, and joined the National Guard in 1963. Ted joined the U.S. Army Reserve in 1973 and served until retirement in 1996 at the rank of Master Sergeant (E8).
Ted married Linda Lou Pickett on February 12, 1965, in Bonner Springs, at United Methodist Church with Rev. Herron. Ted and Linda celebrated 60 years of marriage in February 2025. Ted and Linda had three children and five grandchildren.
Ted worked for Buzzi-Unichem (previously known as Lonestar Industries and then as Dyckerhoff GmbH) for 48 years, retiring in 2013.
Ted was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Ted was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #347, Saratoga Rebekah Lodge #660, and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Division of Cement, Lime, Gypsum, and Allied Workers.
Ted enjoyed traveling, including family vacations across the United States, and international travel.
Remaining to cherish Ted's name are his wife Linda, of the home; son Ted II of Wellsville, Kansas, with grandsons Miles and Sean; daughter Heather of Eudora, Kansas, with grandson Blake of Kansas City, Kansas; son Scott (Alicia) of Lawrence, Kansas and grandson Felix; sister, Anna Kathleen Donn of Bonner Springs, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends that meant the world to him.
Preceding Ted in death are father James, mother Patsy Ann, sisters Bobbie and Judy, daughter-in-law Candice, and grandson Bryce.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home 214 Oak Street, Bonner Springs, KS. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., with graveside interment immediately following. A reception for family and friends will be held afterward at the Alden-Harrington Family Event Center.
