Ted M. Tipton, 79, went to meet the LORD January 19, 2025, after a long illness at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a 1965 graduate of Lynn View High School. Ted retired from Holston Defense after 32 years of employment to enjoy time with his family, play cards with his friends, and attempt to improve his golf game. Ted followed his beloved Tennessee Volunteers in almost every major sport. His closet was filled with Orange 151 merchandise so that his grandkids called him “Orange Papaw”. Ted attended and helped build Salem Methodist Church in Boozy Creek. His faith was hard fought as Christ’s love conquered him & his many questions. He made many friends there as he served with hugs and humor.
Ted is survived by his wife of 57 years, Latona Tipton, daughter, Lisa (Eric) Henley, son, Scott (Tyra Machelle) Tipton and his grandchildren Seth (Alyssa) Henley, TaraShea Henley, and MaKenna Tipton, and longtime friend, Rich Jones. Special thanks to W-3 Wilcox Hall Palliative Care Team and Case Manager Jennifer Spangler and RNs Heather Graves, Regina Webb, and all the other staff who cared for Ted. He called you angels and you were.
