Mr. Ted Williams

Mr. Ted Williams, 72, of Peoria, Illinois passed away at 02:18 am on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
Ted was born on September 25, 1951 in Moorhead, Mississippi to proud parents, Virgil and Margaret (Rayford) Williams. He married the love of his life, Willie Mae Ross on December 15, 1973.
Ted worked as a Truck driver in the Sanitation department with BFI Waste Management for over 30 years retiring in 2009. Ted loved the Lord and had accepted Christ at an early age. He was a jokester who enjoyed telling funny stories. Ted was a loving and loyal family man, brother and friend. It was important to him to impart words of wisdom with whomever he had an audience. Ted enjoyed fishing, people watching from his porch and traveling to spend time with family in Mississippi.
Ted leaves to cherish his most precious memory his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Mrs. Willie Mae Williams of Peoria, IL; two daughters, Yolanda Williams and Tonya Williams both of Peoria, IL; six sons, Terry Williams, Theodore "Ty" Williams, Derek Griffin, Eric Griffin, Travis (Megan) Williams and Tevin Williams all of Peoria, IL; one sister, Daisy Brown of Peoria, IL and two brothers, Lester Raiford of Peoria, IL and John Esther (Hattie) Watson of Moorhead, MS; 12 grandchildren; 8 greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Margaret Williams; one son, Lonnie Williams; four sisters, Freddie Lee Morris, Jessie B. Watson, Millie Mae Williams and Beatrice Coleman; three brothers, Earl Watson, Carl Williams and Elmer Williams.
Honorary mention to his nieces Margaret "Niecy" Williams, Sheila Williams, Kimberly Williams, and nephew Craig Ross.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with a visitation beginning at 10 am. Interim Associate Pastor, James Flemming will officiate. Rev. Alvin Riley, Sr., Pastor of Sovereign Grace M.B. will bring the eulogy. Ted will be laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery.
