Terence Beven, born on March 30, 1933, to John L. and Evelyn C. Beven passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the age of 91.
He graduated from the LSU School of Medicine in 1957 and began working as a pathologist at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. While there he met and married his wife, Elizabeth. They moved to Jacksonville in 1962 where Terry served as a doctor in the U.S. Navy. In 1964, they returned to Baton Rouge where Terry began working at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. Terry remained working there as a pathologist and a nuclear physician until he retired in 2012.
Terry played a prominent role in the medical community. He served on the boards of many medical societies, including the Louisiana Pathology Society and the Louisiana Society of Nuclear Medicine, and served as a delegate to the American Medical Association for numerous years.
Terry enjoyed watching college sports - particularly LSU football; he liked music, theater and reading, especially history. He and his wife Liz enjoyed traveling the places they read about, including Turkey, Alaska and the Panama Canal.
Terry is survived by his three children, John L. Beven, William O. Beven and Evelyn C. Beven-Atkins; and seven grandchildren, Eileen Beven, Anthony Beven, Christopher Beven, John Atkins, Jill Atkins, Elizabeth Atkins and Catherine Atkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Evelyn C. Beven; his brother Michael Beven; and his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth. Services will be held at St. Aloysius Church on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, with visitation at 10:00 am, followed by an 11:00 am mass. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory on Jefferson Hwy.
