Terence Cassell Obituary

Visit the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.
Terence M. Cassell, a longtime resident of Annandale, VA, passed away on March 29, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Terry was born in New Haven, CT, on November 13, 1957, to the late Ruth (Dwyer) Cassell and M. George Cassell. He grew up on the Shoreline in Madison, CT, and graduated from Daniel Hand High School in 1975. He attended New Hampshire College on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1980.

Basketball was Terry's love and forte. He starred on Hand's basketball team (coached by the legendary Bill Barker), and contributed greatly to their winning the championship. In 2024, in a ceremony in Madison, CT, Terry was inducted into the Madison Athletic Hall of Fame.

In later years, Terry worked as a successful pharmaceutical salesman. Becoming increasingly devoted to his Christian faith, Terry became a member of the Northern Virginia branch of People of Praise and served as a coordinator for close to nine years. In 2009, seeking to bring Christ to the workplace, Terry became president of Christians in Commerce and served in that ministry for the next ten years.

Throughout his childhood and into his adult years, Terry was known for his gregariousness--for example, his ease talking to complete strangers--his devotion to his family and loyalty to his many friends.

Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Alicia; his five children, Michael (Emily), Joseph (Anne and two grandchildren Hattie and Clara), Peter, Mary Madeline, and Julia; his sister, Shaileen Cassell of Farmington, CT, and brother James Cassell of Hamden, CT.

Friends are invited to the Fairfax Memorial Park Funeral Home on April 7th, Easter Tuesday for a wake from 5-8pm.

On the following day, there will be a Funeral Mass at 12pm at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

From there, the burial will take place at Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery (same location as Funeral Home) which will be followed by a reception at the St. Ambrose Parish Hall (same location as the funeral Mass).

If you are unable to attend the burial, appetizers will be available directly after mass at the parish hall reception. However, there will be a full buffet after the cemetery service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you would consider a donation to one of the following causes that Terry liked. Online Donations -
