Terence Fleming Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carnes Funeral Home - Texas City on Jan. 24, 2023.
Terence (Terry) Franklin Fleming, loving husband, father and son, was born September 15, 1966, in Meridian, Mississippi to Leon and Eva P. Fleming. He was the youngest of four children. He passed away at age 56 on January 18, 2023, in League City, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Wendy and sons Quentin, Connor and Braden, his parents who currently reside in Meridian, Mississippi, brother Leonard Paul (Katie) Fleming also of Meridian, Mississippi, sister Ava Germaine (Marlon) Cunningham of Memphis, Tennessee and sister-in-law Rita Fleming of Nashville, Tennessee, sisters-in-law Tammy (Laura) Boudreaux of Missouri City, Texas, father-in-law Willie Boudreaux of Pearland, Texas and brother-in-law Mark Boudreaux of LaMarque, Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his brother Glenn Adolphus Fleming and mother-in-law Sue Boudreaux.
Terry attended Union County Public Schools in Morganfield, Kentucky throughout his childhood where he excelled academically and graduated a year early. He would later earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in Aeronautical Engineering. He then went to work as a contractor at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). He worked on various projects throughout his career supporting JSC missions. He conducted several experiments while flying on NASA's KC135 aircraft whose aeronautical maneuvers produce a zero-gravity environment so that scientists can simulate space-like scenarios. Later in his career, he fulfilled the role of a safety analyst providing valuable expertise to projects such as newly designed space suits. He enjoyed supporting the space agency and worked there until his passing.
While working at JSC, Terry met the love of his life, Wendy Boudreaux, and they were married in the Bahamas with family and friends on Paradise Island. They were married at The Cloisters, also known as the Versailles Garden, which is known for its beautiful architecture and serene setting. They were married for 23 years.
As a child, Terry enjoyed playing little league, pony league and high school baseball and developed a love of sports. All three of his boys played baseball among other sports and Terry's favorite pastime was watching his boys play ball. He especially loved watching them play baseball and preferred observing away from the crowd where he could quietly watch his boys enjoy the same game that he loved as a kid. As the kids became young men, Terry enjoyed watching the local teams like the Astros, Rockets and Texans with them and discussing player trades, strategy and win/loss records. He enjoyed participating in a Fantasy Football league with friends that had been going on for many years. It was started with a group of local friends and eventually evolved as friends moved away compelling the group to connect each year via telecon as they were spread out across the US.
His family was met with many challenges over the years. Terry always tackled them head-on utilizing his analytical skills and with a tenacity that reflected his strength of character. He left a lasting legacy for his family demonstrating how to unflinchingly face life's challenges with strength, dignity and determination.
Terry was a quiet, kind, introspective man with a beautiful smile and genuine laugh. His absolute devotion and dedication to family and friends clearly reflected to those he held dear that he loved them more than words could say. He will be greatly missed.
