Teresa Carotenuto, 95, better known as Giuseppina to family and friends, passed on to new life August 7, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Francesco. Giuseppina is survived by her devoted children Pasquale (Rica), Carmela Carroll and Giuseppe (Fran). To her grandchildren Franco (Melissa), Giuseppe (Samantha), Alessandro (Carson), Teresa and Cristina she was lovingly known as Nonna. To great grandchildren Gianluca, Adriano, Giuliana, Valentino and Luca she was Bisnonna.
Born in Italy, Giuseppina started her seamstress apprenticeship at age 12. A skilled dressmaker, she taught the craft to many local girls in Italy. Her sartorial talent was very much in demand in Italy and New Jersey where her career spanned more than 60 years. Upon retirement, Giuseppina and Franco moved to Arizona where family, faith and dear friends were everything. Fondly, we will remember Nonna mending our clothes, cooking in the kitchen, passing on recipes to her nipoti, recounting stories from her past, playing cards with dear friends and telling jokes. She was her own best audience; often laughing uncontrollably before getting to the punch line.
Evening visitation will be Monday, August 19, 2024 from 5 pm - 8 pm. Rosary at 6:30 pm. Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary 6500 E Bell Road, Scottsdale AZ 85254 A funeral mass on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 10:30 am will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 11300 N 64th Street, Scottsdale AZ 85254.
