Teresa Jurden

Teresa Lynn Jurden, 66, of Columbus passed away Wednesday November 5, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital with her loving family by her side. The family will host a Celebration of Life, Monday November 10, 2025 at 4:00 in McMullen Funeral Home Chapel 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.

Teresa was born June 28, 1959 in Columbus, GA to the late Watson Walker Jurden and Mary Wynell Hagler Balkcom. She worked as a claim specialist for AFLAC where she made many lifelong friends. Teresa loved her husband, both her daughters and grandchildren very much. She was a true family woman always baking and making memories. She loved to cook and no matter the dish it was always delicious. She devoted most of her time to teaching children at church the words of God. She loved children and all the children loved her. To know her you would know she never met a stranger.

Teresa is survived by her husband of many years, Johnny Herring of Columbus, GA. daughters: Crystal Townsend (Jon) of Enterprise, AL and Emily Jurden of LaGrange, GA. brother: Jimmy Jurden (Yanina) of NJ, granddaughters: Brooke Allen (Bobby), Megan Eldridge, Hailey Townsend, and Ava Townsend, grandson: Thomas Townsend, many nieces, nephews and cousins along with extending family that loved her dearly. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her brother: Aaron Barnett Balkcom.

Flowers will be accepted and monetary contributions will be graciously welcomed.
