Teresa Smith-Remick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNearney - Schmidt Funeral and Cremation from Jan. 13 to Jan. 21, 2026.
Teresa Ellen Smith-Remick, age 75, of Jordan, MN, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Oak Terrace Senior Living in Jordan.
Teri was born in Oconomowoc, WI, on February 18, 1950, the daughter of Charles and Vera (Griffin) Smith.
Although born in WI, Teri lived most of her life in MN. Her younger years the family lived in Anoka, MN before settling around the Fargo/Moorhead area and graduating from Glyndon. Her love of horses and all things horse related could not be surpassed. Throughout her life she collected horse figurines, articles about horses, and anything with horses printed on it. It was no surprise how thrilled she was when Charles brought home her first horse, Lady.
Teri held a life-long passion for horses and typically had several of her own horses in her young adult life. She was enthusiastic about trail rides, once taking a trip-of-a-lifetime camping trail ride through Canada in the 1970's.
When she had her daughter, Lorraine, she became focused on being a loving mother and went back to school. She attained an Associates Degree in Computer Science from Northwest Technical College. She then worked at Noridian BlueCross Blue Shield for many years in the computer service department. It was there that a friend introduced her to a friend group at a local barn. This relit the dream of having a horse and connecting with her daughter through a shared love of horsemanship. They shared Sargent for 20 years until he passed away.
In later years she settled in Shakopee, MN. Although Teri enjoyed horses first and foremost, she also enjoyed playing cards (just about anything, especially pinochle), reading, traveling, and taking pictures.
Survived by her loving daughter, Lorraine Remick (fiancée, Tim Kuntz); grandson, Joey Wernau; niece, Marietta (Shaun) Myrold; grandniece and grandnephew, Vera and Andrew Myrold. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Vera Smith; sister, Frances Gretsch; brother, Eddie Smith.
Visitation Friday, January 16, 2026, from 10-11 AM, followed by Memorial Service at 11 AM, all hosted at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Ave. East, Shakopee, MN. Interment will be held at a later date, at Riverside Cemetery in Glyndon, MN.
