Terrence "Terry" L. Halgrimson, 82,
Minot, ND, passed away, Saturday, March 16, 2024, in his home.
Terrence "Terry" L. Halgrimson was born March 22, 1941, the son of Joseph and Alvina (Mable Forsgren) in
Powers Lake, ND. He was raised and educated in McGregor, ND attending McGregor School (Sauk Valley School District No. 13). He graduated in 1959 as Valedictorian. He met Judy Soine of Wildrose, ND while in high school. He married Judy on August 2, 1963. They made their home in
Minot, ND.
Terry attended Minot State Teacher's College. Terry would work for 6 months in the oil field and then return to college for 6 months. He was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity. He graduated from Minot State College in 1965 with a BA degree in Accounting with minors in Math and German. Terry was hired as a tax accountant by Baldwin Martz in 1965 prior to graduation. He later made the move to Don Moe Motors as their accountant. He worked there through the move from downtown Minot to the new site south of town and renamed the Minot Chrysler Center until 1990 as their Business Manager.
Terry enjoyed playing basketball, soft ball, and tennis for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman all of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. Every time was an adventure! He equally enjoyed talking about fishing and hunting with family and friends. He loved being able to participate in those activities with his children and grandchildren. He was a supporter of Pheasants for the Future, Ducks Unlimited, and had fun being a member of the local chapter of the Happy Hookers Fishing Club. He fished many ND Governor's Walleye Cup Tournaments and was a member of the ND Whopper Club. He was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club and is a record holder for the Pope and Young Club and the Boone and Crockett Club. He rarely turned down the opportunity to play pinochle. He often took drives out to the wilds of ND to see what was going on with the local fishing hot spots and what the wildlife was up to in the coulees, hills and valleys, and fields. It is hard not to share the many stories and adventures that made up his life.
Terry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy; children, Bryn Halgrimson, Minot, Curtis and Julie (Willette) Halgrimson, Valley City, and Teryl (Halgrimson) and Jim Lange, Ulm, MT; grandchildren, Joseph and Lauren Halgrimson, John and Crysta Halgrimson, Cali Halgrimson, and Drake Lange; two great-grandchildren, Hayes and Aven; sisters, Loreen Pederson and Gail Haakenson; sister-in-law, Jan Halgrimson; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
