Terrence Arthur Stevenson

Terry Stevenson, 78, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 31, 2025.

He is survived by his children, Dwayne Stevenson and his wife Christine; Justine Bartels and her husband Matthew; and his cherished granddaughter, Valentina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha (Gerbec) Stevenson and Joseph Stevenson, and his beloved wife, Rachel Stevenson.

Born on July 20, 1947, in the East Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, Terry proudly served his country in the Vietnam War from January to December 1967 as a member of Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, part of the 1st Infantry Division (the "Big Red One"). His unit endured some of the most difficult conditions known to an infantryman, often operating deep in the field on "search and destroy" missions during Operations MASTIFF, ABILENE, BIRMINGHAM, EL PASO, ATTLEBORO, CEDAR FALLS, and JUNCTION CITY. In the dense jungles of Tay Ninh near Cambodia, the Iron Triangle near Lai Khe, and northeast of Bia Gia toward the South China Sea, Charlie Company inflicted significant losses on enemy forces and supply lines.

After returning from the war in 1968, Terry was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He married Rachel Stevenson (formerly Mendoza) on June 28, 1969, in Pueblo, Colorado. He began his career at Walters Brewery in Pueblo before moving to Golden in 1976 to work for Coors Brewery. The following year, the family settled in Lakewood, Colorado, where Terry lived in the same home on Estes Street for the rest of his life.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 9405 W. Florida Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232. Interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area C, in Denver, Colorado. 3698 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 8023 5

Terry will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his quiet strength, and his deep pride in serving his country. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
