Terri Rae Locklear, age 54, of Elizabeth City, NC, died at Riverside Hospital on Monday, September 15, 2026. She was born in Robeson County, NC, on December 28, 1970, to the late Horace Ray Locklear and Alma Lee Jacobs.

Terri was a cherished member of the Lumbee Tribe in Robeson County, NC. A very spiritual person, she found deep meaning in her heritage and connection to the world around her. Terri loved her family dearly and treasured every moment spent with them.

In recent years, she faced health challenges with grace and resilience, drawing strength from her spiritual beliefs and the love of those close to her. Terri had a particular fondness for turtles, which she collected and enjoyed, appreciating their significance to her native heritage as symbols of longevity, protection, and perseverance.

She is survived by her son, Alan Locklear of Elizabeth City, NC; brother, Sean Locklear of Elizabeth City, NC; three nieces; and a host of extended family. Terri was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will hold a gathering at a later date. Details will be provided once they are finalized.
