It’s impossible to sum up the life of Terri Sue “Suzie” Sherlock, but if you knew her, you know she was unforgettable. Suzie was one of those rare souls who made everything brighter, funnier, and more beautiful just by being there. Her love ran deep, for her husband, her kids, her family, her friends, and the life she built around them.

Suzie and her husband, Dave, shared 30 years of marriage and a lifetime of laughter, adventures, and countless inside jokes. The two were married at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Long beach on June 17th, 1995. They were that couple, the ones who truly adored each other. They shared the love that everyone dreams of finding. Together they raised four incredible kids, Austin, Ellie, Wade, and Avalon, who were her heart, her joy, and her proudest accomplishments. She loved cheering them on, bragging about them, and most of all watching them become the remarkable people they are.

Born in Illinois to Wilbur and Mary Deck, Suzie was raised in Decatur Illinois. By the age of sixteen Suzie moved out to Redondo Beach California with her Mother and Father. Suzie was a California girl through and through. She built a beautiful life in Long Beach, where she ran her vintage business, Gold Coast, at Urban Americana. She had a gift for seeing potential in old treasures and a sixth sense for the best estate sales before anyone else even knew they were happening.

She loved traveling, spontaneous adventures, long walks with her Dogs, Hana and Bear and wandering through a great vintage store, especially if it meant finding something unique or laughing her way through a day with the people she loved. Her sisters, Julie Dickey and Dianne McMillion, were among her closest friends, and her friendships were countless because she gave so much of herself to everyone she met. Suzie showed up, with kindness, humor, and heart, and that’s what made her so special.

Losing her leaves an ache that words can’t heal. She was a devoted wife, a fiercely loving mother, a loyal friend, a wonderful sister and daughter, and the kind of person you’re just lucky to know. Her light, her laughter, and her love will ripple through the lives she touched forever.
