Terry Deason Abee

Terry Lee Deason Abee, 73-year-old resident of Harrisburg, NC, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Atrium-Northeast in Concord after a serious illness of seven days.
Born August 3, 1951 in Lancaster, SC, she was the third of four children, youngest daughter of Paul Edward Deason and Elsie Irene Morgan Deason.
In 1959, when Terry was just seven years old, the family moved to Charlotte, NC to settle.
She was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, graduating from Garinger High School with the Class of 1969. Terry started her secretarial/administrative career with the Charlotte Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), then worked with Collier, Cobb and Associates before eventually settling with the United States Postal Service, from which she retired in October 2015 after 35 years service.
Terry professed Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at age five while living in Lancaster. After the family moved to Charlotte, they became active members of Northside Baptist Church where, at age 15, Terry re-dedicated her life and was baptized into church membership.
Terry and Charles Lindsay Abee first met while students at Cochran Junior High School in Charlotte. They remained close friends throughout high school but did not start dating until they were 20 years old. On May 26, 1973, in a 7 p.m. ceremony at Northside Baptist Church, the two were united in Holy Matrimony. Lindsay is a native of Charlotte (Mecklenburg County), son of Charles Moran Abee and Myrtle Aileen Caldwell Abee.
The couple bought their first home in Cabarrus County in 1976 and in 1978 moved to Harrisburg and then in 1984 to their current home.
Terry and Lindsay, along with son Jeffrey, began attending University Hills Baptist Church around 1986 and became active members October 18, 1987. Terry has served in numerous positions over the years, namely: teacher of Sixth Grade Sunday School, then Middle School Girls, Outreach for Middle School Sunday School Department, Girls In Action (GA's) teacher, many years in the Adult choir, member of the Stewardship Committee, Church Treasurer, and Media Center Director. In addition to her church activities, Terry sang for about fi ve years in the late 1990's with the Queen Charlotte Sweet Adelines Chorus. Also for the past 25 years, she has enjoyed being a member of a ladies book club, originally named the Absoloodles, made up mostly of current and former members of University Hills.
Terry was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Ellen Paulette Deason Griggs, who died at age 36 on February 13, 1983; her brother-in-law, Cecil Lee Griggs who died June 4, 2000 at age 53; her mother, Elsie,who died February 27, 2014 at 87 years of age; her father, Paul, who died at age 89 on July 29, 2015; and her second oldest sister, Kathryn Deason, who died February 3, 2016 at age 68. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Charles "Ran" and Aileen, and her sister-in-law, Emily Kathleen "Kathy" Abee.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 52 years, Lindsay; their son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Wade Abee and Jessica Lynn Caldwell Abee of Harrisburg; two grandchildren: Emma Lynn Abee and Everett Wade Abee; her only brother, Philip Edward Deason of Charlotte; niece, Amy Leigh Griggs Bundy and husband, Walter Clyde Bundy of Concord; nephew, David Paul Griggs of New London, NC; six grand-nieces and nephews and two great-grand.
The Abee family will gather for a time of visitation at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19th at University Hills Baptist Church, 1500 Suther Road in Charlotte. The funeral service will follow at 12 in the church sanctuary officiated by Dr. Michael Gene Toney, Pastor for Worship at University Hills. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Harrisburg.
