Terry Sue Carr

Terry Sue Carr, a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026. She was born on March 28, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky.

For 35 years, Terry dedicated her life to teaching high school English, where she shared her love of literature, language, and learning with thousands of students. She believed deeply in the power of words and encouraged not only her students, but her own children as well, to think critically, write boldly, and read with empathy. Teaching was more than a career to Terry, it was her calling. Terry's passion for education did not end with retirement. She lovingly cared for and nurtured her grandchildren, instilling in them a love of learning even before they began formal schooling. Above all else, Terry was a loving mother to her children, Jennifer (Anthony) and Matthew (Carol). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren, Peyton, Max, Ashton, and A'lijah, who brought immense joy and laughter into her life. With them, she shared a lifetime of memories, unwavering support, and unconditional love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Laurice and Helen Barr, and her older sister, Judy Barr.

Those who knew Terry will remember her for her intelligence, warmth, wit, and unwavering dedication to her family and students. Her influence will live on through the lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Harrodsburg Road. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
