Terry Carroll Obituary

Terry Lee Carroll

Terry Lee Carroll, 74 years old, of Northwood, OH, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023 in his wife's arms. Terry was born to Patricia and O'dene Carroll, Sr. on Lee Street in Ironville, Ohio on May 8, 1949. Terry served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. He worked at Jeep for 58, years as a Millwright, and reminded everyone that he was there since the floors were made of dirt. He was a proud UAW Local 12 member and an active fulltime employee until his last breathing day. Terry never missed a chance to talk "Union". He didn't blink an eye when purchasing a 1949 (his birth year) Jeepster as soon as he saw it! He enjoyed taking it for rides and showing it off while educating his passengers about the original way they were built.

He owned several businesses and rental properties that he worked his entire life for. Included in his businesses were 6 local bars, Hot Spring Spas, Carroll's Health and Fitness Center, and a construction company. He also trained martial arts as a Master Instructor for 35 years at his Tae Kwon Do Center, which maintained 250 students that he loved like family. He belonged to the "AAU" that he was the regional director of for 7 states and sat as the state chairman for 7 years. He received his high school diploma upon entering the United States Army, took 2 years of mechanical engineering education, as well as 4 years in the millwright apprenticeship. He was a very special man with a quick wit personality and always a motivator. Terry was a kind and loving person towards others. He loved riding his Harleys on warm summer days, running, working out and you couldn't catch him in anything but a Carhartt and Dungaree's.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Carroll; father, O'dene Carroll, Sr.; and his first wife, Gloria Carroll. Survived by his wife, and love of his life, Jocelyn Carroll; daughters, Tara (Brandon) Gordon, Mia Cannon Carroll; son, Jason (Samantha) Carroll; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, O'dene Carroll, Jr., Larry Carroll, Sr.; and lifelong friends, Jack Reed and Brian Young. He will be dearly missed by many and loved by his wife until the end of time.

The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.

I am so sorry for the family´s loss. Mr. Carroll was a good person. He helped me tremendously. The lessons he taught me as a student I have carried with me every day. He has had that kind of impact on many.

Terry Carroll was a very important and influential part of my teenage years. I attended his Tae Kwon Do Karate Club in Northwood OH for many years. As I rose through the ranks up to black belt / instructor, he always pushed me to improve myself and was like a father figure to me. I looked up in awe to him. More than just a business relationship, he actually cared about his students and their development. I know there are many other young men and women whose lives he touched through karate - he taught us all hard work and discipline, and wouldn't accept mediocrity. I carry those lessons with me to this day, and am better for having known him. My condolences to Jason, Shannon, Tara, and the rest of the Carroll family.
