Terry Edward Casady, 90, of Thornton, Colorado, departed to be with Christ on June 23, 2025, at Skylake Acute Care. He was born at home on May 31, 1935, in Denver, Colorado.

Terry enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 under the Kiddie Cruise program, which allowed him to serve three years until age 21. His service began on October 6, 1952, with 11 weeks of boot camp at the Naval Training Center in San Diego, located in the Point Loma area.

He served as a meat cutter and cook, first at Corpus Christi Naval Base in Texas, and later aboard the USS Mississippi (EAG-128) out of Norfolk, Virginia. Among his memorable stories were cooking crabs collected from the hull in dry dock, enduring Hurricane Hazel in the North Atlantic, and helping bake a 38-layer cake for the 38th anniversary of the USS Mississippi. He once said he served on the same ship as President Jimmy Carter.

He left the Navy in May 1956 as an E-5 and later received disability compensation for tinnitus, attributed to shipboard gunfire.

Terry was a lifelong resident of Colorado, apart from his time in the navy, flying the American flag high. His presence was a steady thread in the lives of his extended family. He was known among his siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins for his constant and quiet manner. Though he was reserved and often private, his life touched those around him in ways that continue to endear.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Casady; his son, Scott Casady; his parents, Eddie George and Jewel Casady; and his siblings Velmo Baldwin, Nelma Ortin, Calvin Casady, and Billie D. Casady.

Terry is survived by his daughter, Susan Remus, and stepdaughter, Terri Lynn Casady; his grandchildren, Deanna Bedell, Jaime Remus, and Michael Remus; his great-granddaughter, Sophia Bedell; his sister, Jessie Casady; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery, beside his beloved wife, Betty.

We rest in the blessed hope of Christ’s return and the promise: “I go to prepare a place for you... that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:2–3)
