Terry L. Doutre, 83, of
Pensacola, Florida passed away on December 16, 2025. She was born in
Berwyn, Illinois on July 1, 1942, to Ralph and Lillian Markus and lovingly raised by Thomas and Lillian Stout. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Harry Doutre for 62 years until his death in 2023.
Terry had two careers. She worked for Michigan Bell beginning as a switchboard operator and working her way up to Engineering. She retired after 25 years and began working as a CAD Engineer for Butler Telecommunications until she fully retired in 2010.
Terry was a devoted volunteer throughout her life, quietly and faithfully serving her community in meaningful ways. In the 1970s, she completed training as a phone response counselor for a local emergency hotline, offering compassion and support to those in crisis. She later became deeply involved in the READ program, a weekly reading mentorship for children struggling with literacy, which met at her church. Terry became involved and then led this program for many years. Even in her early eighties, her desire to help children never waned. After becoming certified to recognize and report child abuse, she volunteered in a local school in Pensacola, reading one on one with children.
Terry was dedicated to her church family, teaching middle school, serving communion to the homebound, organizing annual dinners, singing in the choir and faithfully caring for others through prayer groups, Bible studies and service.
Terry loved her family deeply and delighted in time together- traveling, cooking, celebrating holidays and making memories. She leaves behind a legacy rooted in her love for God, her devotion to family and friends and a lifetime of quiet, faithful service.
Terry is survived by her children, Lynne (Dave) Bates, Greg (Donna) Doutre; grandchildren, Jennie Bates, Hannah Arlich, Adam Bates, Nicole Doutre, Hillary McAfee and Gregory Doutre: great grandchildren, Lyla, Breccan, Scout, Darby, Juliet, Davy and Arlo. She is also survived by sisters; Philis Brown, Mary Searcy, Sandra Cassieri; nieces and nephews.
