Obituary of Terry Franklin Hicks

It is with deep sorrow and abiding faith in the promise of eternal life that we announce the passing of our beloved husband/father/grandfather, Terry Franklin Hicks, age 79, he went home to be with the Lord on July 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and beloved friends.

Born on November 4, 1945, Terry was a man of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and gentle kindness and had a sense of humor like no other. He lived each day with humility, integrity, joy and a servant’s heart—always putting others before himself. A devoted husband to his cherished wife Dianne of 60 years, a loving father to Stacey, Patti and his dog Roscoe and a proud grandfather to Neeley, Grant, Molly, and Jake. Terry’s life was a reflection of God’s love and grace.

Terry was known for his steadfast walk with Christ; a man who led his family in prayer, Scripture, and worship. Whether through his words or actions, he constantly pointed those around him toward Jesus. He was actively involved in his church, serving faithfully, over the years, as a deacon, choir director, Sunday school teacher, volunteer, and was a trusted friend, counselor, and encourager to all.

He enjoyed travelling, eating, singing and working, but nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “pops”. He proudly worked in the carpet industry for decades and truly never retired. He worked hard every day of his beautiful life. His legacy of faith, love, and quiet strength will continue to live on in all who knew him.

Though our hearts ache in his absence, we rejoice in knowing that he is now in the presence of his Savior, hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

A visitation celebrating Terry’s life will be held at Trinity Baptist Church Calhoun, GA on July 20,2025 from 4-6 pm. A Memorial service starting at 6pm with a reception following in the Fellowship Hall. Private burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Grant Gilmer, Jake Abernathy, Caleb Brooks, William Roberson, Joshua Schwartz, and Weston Schwartz. Honorary pallbearers include The Rock Sunday School Class, The Bristol Divas, Tommy Brumlow, Tom Starnes, Anthony Mangum, Brian Baxter, Jack Weitz, Roger Chapman, Terry Thompsen, Frank Sullivan, and Gary Lambert. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Terry Hicks Memorial Fund to help needy families. Checks can be made to Trinity Baptist Church c/o The Rock Sunday School Class 1170 Rome Road SW Calhoun GA 30701.
