Terry Lee Howard

Terry Lee Howard, age 84, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 16th, 2025. Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen. Burial will be in Killeen City Cemetery.

Terry was born on February 18th, 1941 in Kitts, Kentucky to Reed and Mary (Nick) Howard. Out of high school he enlisted in the Army and eventually found himself stationed at Fort Hood where he would later meet Carolyn Jane Arnold. They got married in Lampasas, Texas in March of 1965 and had two daughters, Landra and Megian. He went on to retire from the Army and then worked and retired from the City of Killeen. During this time he also obtained an associate in applied science from CTC.

Terry to some, granddad to a few, but horsefly to many, was a simple man. Set him up with the tv on wraaasling (as he would say it), an action movie on volume 70, or his PlayStation racing game and he was as happy as could be. Until he lost said racing game of course. He loved CJs cooking and was well taken care of by her for his entire life. He was a homebody, but we all know CJ drug him around to all the gatherings with her because she refused to miss out on anything. They did both loved themselves a trip to Winstar though. Just like his “sweets” (his wife), he enjoyed their annual 4th of July party and the opportunity to play washers and act like he was “The champ” at all times. He was a man of few words, but if you could get him going he loved to talk about his high school sports days or Army days. He had his quirks about him that we will all remember, the way he said, “Yes Carolyn Jane”, his heavy love for the Dallas Cowboys and the way he showed his grandchildren love by pestering them. He held on as long as he could after his wife passed but what a reunion it must have been getting to see her and his daughter again.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reed and Mary Howard; spouse, Carolyn Jane Arnold Howard; Daughter, Landra Lee Howard Knapp; brothers, Bill Howard; Tommy Howard and Gary Howard; and sisters, Jane Stanton and Penny Phipps. He is survived by his daughter, Megian Howard; sister, Nancy Durrow, grandchildren, Kyle (Caitlin), Kelsey (Sam), Keaton (Shannon), Parker (Valarie) and Easton; great grandchildren, Ryker, Emmitt, Brady, Landry and Declan; and many other loving relatives and friends.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Monday, September 29, 2025 at Harper- Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.
