Terry Lee Jarrett

JARRETT, Terry Lee, age 68, of Linden, passed away on December 13, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00–8:00 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Terry’s memory.

Terry was born on March 1, 1957, in Highland Park, Michigan, the beloved daughter of Howard and Lily (Mitchell) Hess. She was a proud graduate of Holly High School, Class of 1975. Terry spent her career as an office manager in various optometry practices—a profession that came naturally, as her father was the former owner of Hess Optical Center in Flint.

Terry found joy in tending to her flower gardens and had an adventurous spirit that carried her across the world with her husband, Maynard. Together they traveled to Germany, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic, creating memories wherever they went. Closer to home, some of her most cherished moments were spent at the family cabin in Grayling, surrounded by those she loved most.

Above all else, Terry adored her grandchildren. She was the heart and matriarch of her family—fiercely loving, endlessly fun, and always present. She never missed an opportunity for movie dates, spontaneous sleepovers, or sneaky plans with the grandkids. She had a way of saying “yes” when it mattered most, often sealed with her famous pleading eyes—exactly as a Meemaw should.

Terry lived life fully and joyfully. She loved live music, dancing, laughing, and being surrounded by her closest friends. Girls’ weekends, adventures, and plenty of shenanigans followed her wherever she went—often accompanied by her favorite Vernors and Barbarossa. Her laughter was contagious, her friendships deep, and her presence unforgettable. Life will never be quite the same without her jello shots, her stories, and her boundless love.

Terry is survived by her loving husband, Maynard; her children Jason (Sara) Keenan, Matthew (Christy) Keenan, Carri (Ryan) Thomas, and Kevin (Mandy) Jarrett; her grandchildren Sophia, Bennett, and Myles Keenan; Rory and Penelope Keenan; Isabelle (Hunter Jackson) Jarrett; Remington Jarrett; Meghan (Samantha) Stanley; Madeline Spears; and Gunner Spears; and her treasured great-granddaughter, Abigail Jackson. She is also survived by her brothers, Ronald (Cheryl) Hess, Skip Hess; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Lily Hess, and her brother, Russell Hess.
