Terry S. Mank

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Mank on Wednesday April 12, 2023. Terry passed away at the age of 73 surrounded by his family.
He was a devoted husband to his wife Virginia for 46 years. They raised four wonderful children together, Ethan (Anne) Mank, Scott Mank, Christopher (Lea) Mank, and Katie (Matthew) Schroeder. He dearly loved all his amazing 11 grandchildren (Abby, Claire, Jacob, Owen, Atticus, Lucas, Levi, Caleb, Asher, Ben, and Conor).
One of his greatest passions was running. As a student runner at Pius XI High School, he was a member of 6 conference and 2 state championship teams in Cross Country and Track and Field. He also was the 2 Mile school record holder. After graduating from Pius XI in 1968, he went to UW Platteville where he earned 4 major letters, all-conference honors, and MVP recognition. He then went on to coach Cross Country and Track and Field for Pius for over 30 years, winning another 3 conference and 5 state championships across the two sports. It is because of these incredible accomplishments as an athlete and coach he was inducted into the Pius XI Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
In addition to athletics, he taught English for 45 years. In the classroom, he was colorful to say the least! He loved to work with the kids and make class fun and engaging. For those who had him in class, he often kept them guessing on how much of his stories were actually true
For most of his life you knew where to find him, Pius XI High School. He entered its doors as a freshman in 1964 and other than a brief recess (for college), dedicated almost 50 years of his life as a student, coach, and teacher to Pius. His teaching and coaching impacted the lives of hundreds of students and athletes in the Milwaukee area.
Terry lived an incredible life both personally and in his career. While many knew him as Mr. Mank or Coach Mank, to his family he was much more. He absolutely adored his grandkids and loved to spend time with them. To them he was Grandpa, Pops, or Kappa. He loved sports, the Packers, and especially The Duke, John Wayne.
Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday April 27, 2023, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, at the MAX A. SASS & SONS MISSION HILLS CHAPEL 8910 W. DREXEL AVE, Franklin WI. Memorial Mass will be held on April 28, 2023, at 11 AM at St. Matthias Church, 9306 W Beloit Rd, Milwaukee (Family & friends please meet at the church on Friday for the Memorial Mass). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society (HTTPS://donate.cancer.org) in Terry's memory. Also, a special thank you to the Aurora doctors, nurses, and Hospice Care team.
