Terry Wayne "Hair Man" Maybury

Terry Wayne "Hair Man" Maybury, a beloved figure in the Medon community, passed away on January 11, 2026, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. He was born on May 6, 1957, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and moved to the area at the tender age of four. For 64 wonderful years, he called this county home, with the last 25 years spent in Medon.
A talented brick mason by trade, Terry dedicated his career to his craft before retiring. Outside of work, he found joy and fulfillment through his many passions. He was not just a musician who loved to play guitar and sing; he was a vibrant storyteller whose laughter could brighten the toughest of days. His personality was effervescent, cherished for the warmth and joy he brought into the lives of those around him. An avid golfer, he enjoyed spending time on the greens, often sharing the serene moments with family and friends.
Terry's love for his family was paramount. He is survived by his son, Terry Wayne Maybury, Jr. of Jackson, and his daughter, Christie Hill and Jamie of Toone. His siblings-Rebecca Benard of Toone, Jerry Lee Maybury of Beech Bluff, and Christopher Alan Warren of Henderson-will hold his memory close, as will his loving mother, Adeline Cecile Warren of Medon. Terry was a proud grandfather to Kayla, Kendall, Lauren, Sydney, Morgan, Dylan, and Collin, and his heart swelled with joy each time he spent time with them and his twelve great-grandchildren. His little dog, "Sweet Pea," was a constant companion who shared his life and laughter.
Terry was a man of deep faith, embracing his Baptist beliefs with fervor throughout his life. As we remember him, we are reminded not only of his free spirit and humor but also of the kindness and genuine love he offered so freely. He was truly one of a kind, a friend to all who had the privilege of meeting him.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Edward Maybury, his sister, Kelley Galigher and life-long partner, Gaylon Harris.
A visitation to honor Terry's life will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar on January 14, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and again on January 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, after which family and friends will gather for his interment at Shandy Baptist Church Cemetery.
