Terry Lee Powell, known for his dedication to the oilfield throughout most of his career life, has recently passed away at the age of 74. Born on May 5, 1950, in Falfurrias, Texas, he breathed his last breath on August 3, 2024, in Liberty Texas.
In life, Terry was described as a hard worker with a loving heart. His tough love and stubborn nature were balanced by his commitment to family values. He took great pride in being a devoted father ("DAD") and found immense joy in spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love and attention Terry was the embodiment of reliability, always there for those who needed him.
Terry's interests were as varied as his personality. From hunting to fishing, gardening to cooking and BBQing, he enjoyed a wide range of hobbies. Despite being color blind, green held a special place in his heart as his favorite color. A true ice cream enthusiast, Terry had a particular affinity for Blue Bell homemade Vanilla ice cream and even created special concoctions to accompany it.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, William Pinkin Powell and Louise LeNormand Powell; son, Robert Powell; grandchild, Harvey Potts.
Survived by his loving wife Joyce Powell of 53 years, Terry leaves behind a legacy of care and strength for his children, Kimberly Powell, Terry Powell Jr., and William "Bo" Powell. His memory will be cherished by his siblings, Preston Perry Powell (Julia), Phil Edward Powell (Rhonda), Mary "Lannie" Taylor (Nelson), as well as by a host of grandchildren, Kameron Powell, Kara Powell, Kaitlin Eaton, Kandice Powell, Michael Powell, Hunter Powell, Elizabeth Powell, and Emalee Powell; great-grandchildren, Hailey Powell, Jasper Powell, Brentley Carmel, and Gracelynn Baldridge; fur babies, Rocky and Skye.
Serving the family as pallbearers are William “Billy” Vail, Vernon “Little Bubba” Fregia Jr., William “Buck” Tanton, Justin Zickafoose, Dwayne Baldridge, and Joe Musselwhite. Honorary pallbearers are Vernon Fregia Sr., Cris LeNormand.
In honor of Terry's remarkable life, a visitation will be held at Faith & Family Funeral Services in Batson on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00pm officiated by Pastor Allen Owens before proceeding to the Cooke Memorial Cemetery in Liberty for interment.
Terry Lee Powell will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him as a pillar of strength and love who brought warmth wherever he went. May he rest in peace knowing that his legacy lives on through all those whose lives he touched.
